In general, healthy gums are pink, have a chewy consistency, have a freckled texture like an orange peel called stippling, have tapered edges, and don't bleed easily. However, the gums do not always have a healthy condition. Gums can also get sick. The form of the disease that is often encountered is gingivitis.

The following are signs when someone has gum inflammation:

  1. Changes in the appearance of the gums

Changes that occur in the gums can be seen based on color, consistency, texture, size and contour. At first, the inflammation of the gums causes the blood vessels to widen, causing the gums to turn red and swell. The edges of the gums become rounded. The surface of the gums becomes soft.

If this condition persists for a long time, the gums will become hard and cause the gum to become irregular in shape.
